When reading about equity and accessibility in educational settings, I was able to make a connection between this topic and cognitive load theory. Equity and accessibility are important factors to consider when applying Cognitive Load Theory to how information is presented to students. Some students may find it more challenging to process and retain information if the learning materials are not objective or easily accessible.
For instance, if a visually impaired student cannot access a visual aid provided in a lecture, their extraneous load increases because they must exert more mental effort to comprehend the topic. Similarly, suppose a learner’s primary language is not the language used in a lecture. In that case, their extraneous load will increase because they must exert more mental energy to comprehend the language.
Therefore, in designing and delivering learning materials, it’s important to consider equity and accessibility to minimize extraneous load and promote effective learning for all learners.
Creating settings and products that are useable, pleasurable, and accessible for people with various skills and disabilities is known as inclusive design. This design philosophy attempts to provide solutions that address the needs and experiences of people with multiple skills and backgrounds while recognizing and valuing diversity. This may lead to more user-centred, egalitarian solutions and a more inclusive, diverse society. To me, it means accepting and appreciating our differences.

Hi Annie, this blog post shows your understanding of the inner connection between cognitive load theory, equity and accessibility. Reducing the cognitive load for students is the best way to help the student concentrate on topics and improve their understanding efficiency. Well done. By the way, your sketchnote looks very nice.

Hello Annie, I think this post associates equity and accessibility in educational settings with Cognitive Load Theory. It emphasizes the need to take into account accessibility and equity in learning materials design for optimized learning outcomes for all students. I also agrees that this approach can lead to more equitable and user centered solutions that can promoting an inclusive society.
